Happy Valentine's Day

This is what my romantic son took it upon himself to make last night. She's not allowed to know who it's from!! I have to hand it to her teacher in secret tomorrow morning and ask her to slip it to Halle. He's also wondering hopefully if anyone will send him one. I hope he doesn't find out the hard way that love can be cruel...

All of the kids in Grade One at his school were filmed yesterday for the Channel 10 show 9am with David and Kim. I think the item is a kids-eye-view on Valentine's Day and Love In General. Little kids doing Vox Pops. Awww. There are about 70 kids in his grade so I will be surprised (but thrilled) if Climber makes the cut. Here is what he told me went on (warning; spoiler ahead!) :

Interviewer: How old do you think you have to be to have a girlfriend?
Climber: 6
Interviewer: How old are you?
Climber: 6
Interviewer: So do you have a girlfriend?
Climber: Noo .. well actually I have two.

My Valentine and I are going out for a romantic breakfast on Valentine's Day using a freebie voucher we picked up at the Creche Trivia Night last year. Because that's what all the trend-setters are doing this year, didn't you know? Candlelit dinners are so last-century. No need to worry about babysitting or finding an eatery with any free tables-for-2 on one of the busiest nights of the year. Just drop the kids at school and creche and chill out with my fella in groovy Westgarth. Not that we're heavily into Valentine's Day or anything. But we needed to use the voucher and frankly, we just almost never go out, just the two of us, for Quality Couple Time. So, bacon and eggs and romance, that will be us tomorrow. And coffee too. Natch.

  2. Of COURSE he has two girlfriends - he's far too cute to limit himself to one!

  3. The sincerity written into the card is just beautiful, but is he not sending a valentine to both girlfriends? You can't play the field and play favourites like that!
Enjoy the breakfast, pre 10am romance is so very trendy!

  4. I with you on the breakfast over dinner thing. By dinnertime, I'm too buggered. But a cooked breakfast, now you're talkin.

  5. He must make the cut with a comment like that.

And the breakfast thing is definitely a highly civilised way to go. Have fun!

  10. I was about to congratulate you on Climber, then I realized that bringing up a potential bigamist might not be such a good thing.

  11. Please tell me the interviewer's next questions was somewhere along the lines of: 'So, do your two girlfriends know about each other?'

    hee hee

    Your kid is sooo cool.

  12. Tracy: He did only send one card. I think he didn't feel he could preserve his anonymity with the other chick as she is in the same class as him.
Shelly, Uli and Velcro: He made the cut! but only for his blonde good looks and embarrassed expression, his soundbite didn't make it. He was sooo cute though! Fixit and I nearly burst when we saw him!
Molly: You would think I would be the other girlfriend, but no. Her name is Angelina.
Joke: Well, thankyou! for giving me bigamy to worry about in his future! I thought the fact that he is already "playing the field" was enough to be going on with...
Ewe: The 2 girlfriends do not know about each other but they are in different classes so I think he can get away with it for a bit longer!

And thankyou everyone for breakfast wishes, we had a lovely time. ;-)

  13. I think breakfast 'dates' are a fantastic idea! No late nights, no babysitter fees, no chance of a hangover ;)

Hee hee ... your son has a crush. How cute!

  14. Now I KNOW your climber has eyes to die for but I think that quote should have put his voice on too. Hey, but I'm biased.

Glad to hear the breakfast went well. Both Mr J and I completely forgot as usual - but is that a surprise when neither of us remember our wedding anniversary either? Lucky we're both like that or one of us would be sorely upset year after year after year ;-)

  15. I much prefer going out for breakfast with my husband, than dinners. Much less pressure. And Climber's answers were adorable.

  16. O M G !!

I *wish* i'd read this YESTERDAY - did he get on ? I could have taped an extra tape for you !?!??

    So cute !!
Oh, how I hope he wasn't let down in the love stakes - I feel my son's pain 100% more than I ever felt my own, so I know how you bleed for him.

Have you noticed the new season of DEAL is up this week ??? OoOoh, I am emailling g'friend frantically - we think we are such superstars .. pathetic ;)

TV does that to the suburban masses ;)

    Happy V' Day, Stomp-Troups !
