What ho.

Meet Bertie Wooster, Bertie for short.
He is a 12-week old chocolate Burmese, purchased from a breeder in Seymour. He's been here exactly one day, and he is quite at home and we are all besotted.
Even though a pet is for life not just for Christmas, he is a Christmas present (from Fixit to me). It's been 6 years since my last cat crept quietly away under our neighbour's house to die. That was when we lived somewhere else and Climber was a crawling bundle of baby, and then we moved here and had Cherub and for a while there a pet would have been beyond our means and our energy. Now though, we need a pet. 'Specially Climber. It is so nice to have that little purring bundle of fur to cuddle; when we are not being entertained by his kittenish scampering antics, of course.

  1. Great name! So glad you're all happy. He IS cute. I'd even give him a cuddle and then hand him straight back, as no cat is EVER crossing OUR threshold.

  3. I'd be lost without a cat, and Burmese are the BEST ! I love Fixit for giving him to you - it's just so damn thoughful and sweet.

And I think all kids need a pet.
A real pet, that can be mauled and cuddled ( not a goldfish )

NONE of our MG kids have pets, not one. They maul our windows like it's a viewing zoo when they see our Bobby outside, and squeal and squeak with delight. Poor things...

But why did you name your cat after my husband, hmm ??

    Suss.

  4. You will need to wear lots of pink and sip your drinks delicately through a straw in order to keep up the girly quotient in your household. (shouting 'gilr power' periodically may help too)

  6. Awwwwwwww! Congrats on the new addition! Burmese are my weakness - my last baby lived to be 17 and was loving and kittenish her entire life. May you all have many snuggles and giggles!

  9. Haven't been able to contemplate having a cat since psychotic wonderdog arrived ... she thinks all cats are THE ENEMY and must be annihilated ... She's 10 now and fit as a fiddle so I may put my hankerings on hold for a while!!

All kids - big and small - should have a huggable, squeezable 4 legged friend ...

    Well done Fixit!

  14. He is very cute. Let's hope he stays that way, and doesn't grow into a badly behaved big boy like our two...

  18. I've had two Burmese cats in my life. They are the ONLY kind of cat worth having, in my opinion.

He's very light coloured isn't he? I take it 'chocolate' is different from 'brown' then? (Both my Burmeses were brown, and very dark chocolately brown).

Beautiful though. I'm envious, in a good way.

  20. Oh he's beautiful. My boy is a Tonkinese and he's sitting here with me as I catch up on blogs.
Burmese are gorgeous. There's a chocolate in the next street over from us and she's the most friendly cat with a beautiful shiny coat. I hope you enjoy your newest family member.
