Mountain Mini-break

Sometimes it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

To take time out at the top of a mountain and enjoy simple pleasures, like rolling down that inviting slope.

Or getting close to nature. In this case, some very bold ducks.

Or making a fire. Climber spent virtually the entire weekend practising his wood-chopping skills. He came home intact, thankfully.

Hanging out with grandparents. Showing them how fast you can go on the whirly ride in the local playground.

Bonding with the grandparents' pet. Cherub was a very proud dog walker.

It's good to slow down and just be, sometimes. Climber in particular was most reluctant to come home again.

But Bertie Wooster was very relieved to see us back again.

  1. My word! That is a giant sized Cav! What are they feeding it? Possums??

  2. Is he so big? He seems normal, but I am not a dog expert. Like most dogs, he's pretty fond of feedin' time, but I've never noticed possum entrails in the dog bowl!

  3. I note that the Cherub kept a nice safe distance between himself and the hatchet-wielding Climber.

Bertie Wooster is one smart kitty. Snuggle up and get yourself and good petting.

Wouldn't it have been fun to take him with you? I'm sure he would have enjoyed bonding with the dog too!

  5. I'm glad Climber came home intact...

Sounds like you enjoyed "taking the mountain air".

  6. Our neighbours minded Bertie. He was so lonely for human company that he kept trying to get into their place.

  7. Nothing like a young boy and an axe to get the male Grrrrrs growing. My man, who comes from a very urbanish USA had to learn his axe handling a little late. His first winter up here, while chopping wood, he managed to get the axe stuck in his car door!

  8. Don't the kids just love getting out and about. My kids are stuck in the city this holidays; they are thoroughly enjoying their dental, hair and eye appointments. hee Hee.

All part of my plan for them to BEG to go back to school. Mwah ha ha ha.

  12. That hatchet shot is a wee bit disconcerting.

Who missed Bertie more, I wonder ;)

Don't let the cat get your tongue.
