On a perfect autumnal day in Melbourne the Tap Kids and I gave another thoroughly enjoyable public performance, this time at a school fete. Rather than bombard you with another million photos, I will just share this one. (There are more pictures over here if you are interested, but only for Flickr members.)
These are the beautiful big kids but if you look closely you can see Astrid holding up my cheat sheet and me reading my instructions.
Oh, go on, alright, I'll show you another one featuring the lovable littlies; off to the side you can see the group of teenage girls who had a ball copying all the moves.
Oh look, fine. I don't want to leave anyone out. Here are the marvellous middle-sizeds, going for the big finish. Ta-da.
More fun at the fete was had checking out Jenny's craft stall. We couldn't walk away and leave these purple wheat bags behind, obviously.
This is all much nicer news than I had on Thursday night when one of my adult beginners fell over and broke her arm in class. It was just One Of Those Things, we weren't even doing anything difficult or dangerous. I have insurance, in case you are worried. Still feel crappy about it though.

Gorgeous fete pictures but eurgh feeling a little unwell thinking about your grown-up injuryied.
ReplyDeletewith regards to the first photo, i would like to say that i am wearing Millie's hat. Just for the record.
ReplyDeleteAnd another thing, it is very exciting not to be anonymous any more.
ReplyDeleteMy stomach heaved a little at the thought of an arm breaking in a tap class!
ReplyDeleteLove the tapping at the fete photos though..
oh bugger - Poor woman and poor you, an icky situation.
ReplyDeleteI wuv the lickle purple wheat bags.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pity you're in Melbourne because y'know OUR school has a fete too.
Cherub looks tired. Too much of this school lark?
ReplyDeleteOuch to the achey breakey arm. Poor you. (Yeah yeah, poor her too, but POOR YOU).
x
Aren't they all having fun!
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful, as always. Tap dancing must be akin to the fountain of youth.
I thought in show biz you were supposed to break a leg? Oh, it's just a SAYING. Perhaps you need to communicate that? That's probably what uncoordinated me would do on the first day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tappers. Lovely wheat bags. And in PURPLE!
I always enjoy the tah-dahhhhhs best.
ReplyDeleteHow's V doing ? Doing good?
It's a pain when people hurt themselves in class.
ReplyDelete(Get it? Pain??? I'm so funny....)
(The temptation is almost irresistible to tell you the word verification. I remember you saying how much you enjoyed that...)
Looks like you had a lovely day for your show...
ReplyDeleteYou must be incredibly fit!
i thought of you when the boys did their performance last week in dance. It's so sweet watching them follow their teachers lead so carefully and then the improv they come up with on their own.
ReplyDeleteWhat purple-lishish bears!
The wheat bags are just lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe tappers are pretty good too.
Oh Stomper, your posts (I'm catching up) are so uplifting. All that sunshine and happy people and dancing about. And such a sweet post about Fixit (happy 15th). And I just loved the sandwich triangle post. Ah, how difficult it is to be a mother!!
ReplyDeleteThat's very cool- looks like alot of fun.
ReplyDeletePurple envy of the wheat bags!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the kinder in the sun.
Shame about the arm. Gives a whole new meaning to "Give a girl a break" awww sorry.
The children are gorgeous and it is wonderful to see how much they enjoy it. Did I tell you one of the women in my Italian class is a mad keen tap dancer?
ReplyDeleteApropos of Isabelle's comment, I must also tell you that I had to make my lunch for last Saturday's all day choir session, so made myself a prosciutto and baba ghanouj sandwich (very yummy) and when I finished making it I looked down and saw I had cut it into rectangles. I felt very abashed. Must do better next time!
They all look so cute especially the marvellous middle-sizeds bowing so beautifully. I remember my tap teacher the wacky Isabelle teaching her little sister how to jump her foot and telling us that she'd broken her arm. We were all very careful when we attempted it.
ReplyDeleteAccidents happen everywhere. Better to dance and perhaps get hurt, than never to dance at all....
ReplyDeleteHmph, I'm quite the philosopher tonight.
And here I was thinking the blog title meant you were going on a holiday!!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I surmise from these photos is that tap dancing makes you very happy. I think Master A is keen to try it - he dances around, tapping his feet in the house! I don't dare show him these photos - he'll get too excited and insist we move to your part of town to join your class!
