My Corner of the Washing Line
If I am not in a rush I separate the family washing and hang each person's clothes onto the different quadrants of the Hills Hoist, in a bid to help me with my Achilles Heel of Washing, the Putting Away. This way, if I fold as I bring it in, it is pretty much sorted and could be put away in a twinkling of a bedpost.
It's good in theory, anyway.
This shot is fairly typical of how my quarter of the washing line looks, except I didn't show you my underwear. Which is mostly Melbourne-black, by the way; if you want pure cotton underwear you have to forgo pretty or colourful undies.

You don't have to stick with black if you go to www.thunderpants.co.nz/
ReplyDeleteI love my thunderpants!
Despite not being a pink person, my bit of the washing like sometimes looks like its that of an 8-year-old girl!
Ah, a girl after my own heart.
ReplyDeleteI too can dress for days and days in nothing but purple. My glasses are purple, I have at least 7 pairs of purple earrings, it always gets comments, especially at work where I also wear purple alot. Why do people always seem surprised that I am so colour-coordinated?
And I love me a black undy.
next time I'm in Melbourne I'd love to catch up!
That sounds a bit wrong after just discussing black undies, but I'm sure you know what i mean....
ReplyDeleteI used to be a dance and tap teacher too
Of course that's your corner with all the lovely purpley shades.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in my late teens I lived with my Nanna and I'm sure the neighbours used to think the skimpy lacy undies were mine and the big sensible cotton ones were hers, when in fact it was the other way around.
So with you. I DETEST the putting away and will go to great lengths to avoid it!
ReplyDeleteI love your purple corner.
ReplyDeleteAnd I too loathe putting away.
That's such a happy purple corner. I do love the look of washing on a line. But, like you, hate the putting away.
ReplyDeleteCotton undies are the boss.
What a good idea to have the washing hung in quadrants.
ReplyDeleteBut what do I do when have 5 in the family??!?
My mum would love that corner of the line!
ReplyDeleteGood tip! I loathe the putting away and sorting but also the washing in general. I make the 13yo and 10yo fold about a quarter of our family washing as part of their chores just to ease my workload! They also get to hang some and bring it in. I am an evil mother.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and above all a VERY practical tip! thanks.
ReplyDeleteTruly lovely! Just like the purple wearer.
ReplyDeleteWhat else would we expect, but for your corner to be purple! A bright spot of lovely on a winter day too. Stacey's comment made me a little queasy. Remind me to tell you about the time I thought my mother bought me some *nice* undies for my honeymoon.... only they were for HER. Brain Squeegee anyone?
ReplyDeleteMy corner of the washing line would be all black, with touches of green. Unfortunately none of the greens go with each other; whereas all your purples are purpling along nicely together...
ReplyDeletePutting away is for losers. Me, I just pile it up in person-relevant stacks. They can deal with it themselves. My word verification is DEXTESIT (which is close to DETEST IT, sort of :))
