Drained

I've lost my sparkle a bit this week. The Fixit stress stuff, followed by the disappearing cat and then last week poor Climber had some schoolyard trouble. It's mostly okay now; he was being ostracised by association and the association was not a good friendship to start with, all talk and no listening, if you know what I mean. I think by dint of talking it over with him, and raising it with his teacher that we have probably sorted it out, although it may take a bit longer to shake down. But it gave me a nasty shock seeing my normally happy confident child crying on my knee for nearly an hour as he told me he had no-one to play with and that he felt unable to stand up for himself.

Anyway, the upshot is that I don't feel like I have much to say. Meantime, I am trying my hand at stitches and craft and finding it quite therapeutic.

  1. oh. Is there anything worse your child sobbing and being unable to fix it?

  2. Frankly, no. I was telling a girlfriend all about it the next morning and ended up bursting into tears myself.

  3. rain is a good thing to say. I like rain.

Stitch away your troubles. It'll all be OK.

  4. You and me both. But you are a good girl and you let the interwebs know. Me, I just bottle.

Keep on with the therapeutic stitching.

  5. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it would be to see your child go through that. He will be OK though, I'm sure of it...

  6. Oh , hard times my love ... Stitching does really help, it kind of unwinds you and soothes you a bit. I'll be crossing my fingers for Climber - schoolyards are so hard at times.

  7. It's stuff like this that makes me glad I'm just the cat's mother. It's hard enough dealing with your own troubles, having to shoulder the sorrow of others, too, too much to bear.

  8. oh dear, schoolyards can be so harsh (we have had our first eensy taste this year at childcare). Climber is lucky he has such a lovely mum to let it all out to and who can go in and bat for him when required. I'm sure it will all be OK in time.

    Craft is good, isn't it.

  9. Poor climber. That IS the worst thing. You have to resist the urge to go marching in and stick up for your baby! Craft is fabulously therapeutic. I love it.

  10. I hope as well as 'rain' you are doing 'wind', 'squalls' and 'sort of sleet stuff'. Hope Climber is feeling better!

  11. I've got a bad case of the blahs. Too much negativity happening in a small window of time. I keep looking for the dog to bound around the corner of the house, eager to see us, and it sucks the happy out of the day when it dawns on me she's gone. Rain indeed. Stitch away. Stick a little for me too.

  12. Oh, Yuk, I hate those weeks.

A sobbing child with friend issues is a guaranteed heart-breaker. (even now for us)

Thinking of you all with big hugs. Hope things settle soon.

  14. rain used to be the name of a nightclub in these parts. long gone now. with the cute barman. and my desire to be regularly out at 2am drinking too much. rain. it was good. crying boys, not so much. I find it worse as they get older. it's so rare now they're both over 12, that when it happens, you know it's big.

  16. Oh yeah, it's one of the worst kept secrets of craft. Calming.

  19. I'm sorry. I guess kids need to encounter a variety of situations in order to get prepared for the world at large, but it's no darned fun sometimes.

  20. I have been a little bit shocked by how early kids start some of this stuff. I mean, I don't remember it from when I was a kid until later, but now it's preppies and grade 1s treating each other badly. It's really sad. I hope he's okay.

Meanwhile, stitch for your sanity! Works for me... (meanwhile, the house goes to pot!)

  21. It's just not fun for anyone. But stitch away, cuddle climber, get a hug for you, and stitch away some more.

From experience, mum's cuddles are always the best thing to start with in these situations. Climber's lucky in that regard!

  22. Hope it's all sorted out now. But it's horrible to go through, for you and him.

    Hugs
